The search for a new school superintendent is on in Richmond County.
School board members voted last night not to renew Dr. Frank Roberson’s contract. He got a one-year extension on his 3-year deal last year, but the board decided his reign as superintendent here will end in August.
Roberson underwent emergency brain surgery in 2011, just six months after beginning his new job. He was unable to work for the better part of the next 19 months, then had a modified work schedule after coming back.
After the board’s decision Monday night, Roberson told reporters he feels good about what he’s been able to achieve here. The board decided the Georgia School Board’s Association should handle the search for Richmond County’s next superintendent.
