Students in Richmond County will have to make up three of the five days they missed in January and February due to the winter weather, and one of those days includes a Saturday.
School board members decided yesterday that students will have makeup days on March 17, which was supposed to be a furlough day; Saturday, March 22; and Good Friday, April 18.
Officials said students need to make up the days to help prepare for standardized testing in late April.
The board’s decision yesterday isn’t sitting well with some parents and students who say they won’t be attending school on a Saturday. Officials say those who choose not to attend on the designated makeup days will be given an unexcused absence.
