Not only are area residents still cleaning up debris in the wake of last week’s ice storm, they’re also trying to replace food that had to be thrown out since power stayed off for days.

If you currently receive food stamps and have lost food due to the outages, you can request replacement benefits by going to your local Division of Family and Children Services office.  You’ll have to sign an affidavit of loss benefits.

If you need food immediately, contact the United Way referral line by calling 211, or contact your local food bank.

Meanwhile, Golden harvest Food Bank will be distributing food this Saturday in Aiken on a first come, first served basis.

The distribution will be at the organization’s Aiken warehouse on Capital Drive from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
